Hockey Season Begins on Maui

Hockey season on Maui begins this month.

Sign ups will be taking place at the Kalama Park Inline skating rink.

Maui Inline Hockey Association has youth and adult divisions for you to play whether you’re a beginner or a pro. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

You can stop by the rink in the evening for more information or to pick up a sign-up form or download here.

Official hockey sign ups will be held at the rink on Thursday evening August 19th beginning at 5pm and on Saturday August 21st at Kihei Sporting Goods in the Island Surf Building from 11–2pm.

Action packed games are held every Sunday & Thursday evening beginning in September. Join us at the rink for some exciting hockey action.

Great Tournaments for Maui Teams

The Maui youth and adult teams made it through the tournament season, competing in both the NARCh and ECHO/USA Hockey Regionals. At the NARCh tournament, every Maui team walked away with a win. It was a very competitive tournament with teams from the mainland. At the recent ECHO/USA Hockey Tournament, Maui 14 Under team and adult Team Lighthaus finished second in their divisions. In the 8U youth division Jack took the MVP award. In the adult Gold division, Matt Cober took the MVP. Good job everyone. There is a great story and video over at KHON2 news you can watch here.

It is summer tournament time. Maui will be participating in two summer events in Oahu. May 15-16 Maui youth and adult teams will be participating in the NARCh regional qualifier. June 12-13 we will be participating in the USA Hockey ECHO tournament. Both tournaments will be taking place at the new double indoor rink in Kapolei in Oahu. Once our tournament season is over we will get out a summer schedule for both youth and adult hockey.

End of Season

We are coming to an end of another great season. Our league continues to see an increase in both youth and adult players. This past year, we have seen a 26% increase in registered players. Our open public skate nights have also seen a dramatic increase in skaters. This has only been possible by the countless hours of our volunteers commitment to making the organization a success. So thank you to everyone who has contributed and helped out.

Championship Nights:

Our youth league will be celebrating championship night on Thursday April 22nd after the games with a barbeque at the rink. The league will be supplying the hamburgers & hotdogs and all the paper products. Please join us and bring your favorite dessert or drinks to share. Coach Chris Bettis has kindly offered to organize the barbeque to wrap up another great season of youth hockey. Also come check out our championship game of the adult recreation league. Games have been close this season, so this is gearing up to be an exciting game.

Adult league championship week begins on Tuesday, April 20th with playoff games at 8PM. Championship night will be Sunday, April 25th beginning at 7PM. Come watch who wins the Maui Cup this season.

Rink Rules:

A safety reminder for everyone. The bleacher area of the rink is for spectators, or to get dressed or put your skates on. It is not an area for racing around on skates, playing with pucks, skateboarding, riding bikes or horse playing. Parents please remind your kids of this. Also as a reminder, the rink has a no pets policy. Pets must be kept out of the facility. There are many viewing areas outside of the rink where you and your pet can enjoy watching the game. If you have questions on the rules of the rink, please see the posted sign at the front of the Pro Shop.
